Red Right Hand Guitar Tab

Red Right Hand: One of my favorite songs by Nick Cave. Since long before it became the Peaky Blinders theme song. When my boys were young and used to get impatient in the back seat of the car, I would put on this song. And tell them about the mysterious devil guy with the dusty black coat and red right hand and stacks of green paper who came for our souls from that lost place past the mills. My boys would be quiet and listen curiously. And they remember that until today! You are a Peaky Blinders OR Nick Cave fan and know how to play the guitar? Then you’re at the right place!

What’s Nick Cave’s second name?

If you need some background information on Nick Cave, this is what Wikipedia says: „Nicholas Edward Cave AO (born 22 September 1957) is an Australian singer, songwriter, author, screenwriter, composer and occasional actor. Known for his baritone voice and for fronting the rock band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Cave’s music is generally characterised by emotional intensity, a wide variety of influences and lyrical obsessions with death, religion, love and violence.

Born and raised in rural Victoria, Cave studied art in Melbourne before fronting The Birthday Party, one of the city’s leading post-punk bands, in the late 1970s. They relocated to London in 1980. But, disillusioned by life there, evolved towards a darker, more challenging sound that helped inspire gothic rock. And acquired a reputation as „the most violent live band in the world“.

The Red Hand Files

I strongly recommend to follow Nick Cave’s blog The Red Hand Files in which he answers fan questions in a very personal manner. I love to get the e-mail with the new blog post. Because it feels like Nick is writing to me as my personal friend.

About Peaky Blinders Wikipedia has to say: „The Peaky Blinders were an urban street gang based in Birmingham, England. They operated from the end of the 19th century to the early 1900s. The group, which grew out of the harsh economic deprivations of working class Britain, was composed largely of young men of lower to middle-classes. They derived social power from robbery, violence, racketeering, illegal bookmaking and the control of gambling. Members of this gang wore a signature outfit. It included tailored jackets, lapel overcoats, button waistcoats, silk scarves, bell-bottom trousers, leather boots, and peaked flat caps.

In 2013, the name was reused for a BBC television series entitled Peaky Blinders. The series, which stars Cillian Murphy, Paul Anderson, and Joe Cole, is a crime story. About a fictional crime family operating in Birmingham just after World War I.“
